The evil one never sleeps and he never stops attacking. One of his favorite weapons is fiery darts.
The Apostle Paul wrote of them in his letter to the Ephesians and he instructed them on how to extinguish them. In Paul’s day fiery darts were weapons of war. They would penetrate shields and ignite combustible materials leaving the enemy defenseless while also wreaking havoc with fire. Paul used this weapon to illustrate and teach us spiritual principles.
Spiritual fiery darts are meant to penetrate our spiritual shield and inflame us. The evil one sends an array of thoughts, guilt, greed, selfishness, egotistical, lust, lies, lazy, crazy, filthy, disgusting and morbid just to name a few. He also utilizes complications, problems, disease and death upon us to yield us defenseless and to wreak havoc in our lives.
Some people just look at this as life. “It is what it is.” Well, I am here to tell you it is NOT “just what it is!” It IS spiritual war! The evil one comes to seek kill and destroy and the closer one gets to Jesus Christ the more fiery darts one has to contend with and the more fierce they become. He knows exactly where and when to shoot these darts because he knows our weaknesses.
It is extremely important to recognize them for what they are and extinguish them as soon as possible to eliminate inflammation. Because once we are inflamed, sin is lurking and once we sin we are exactly where he wants us.
It is imperative that we continuously wear the armor.
The Armor of God
“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints— and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.”
Ephesians 6:10-20 NKJV
